If you are serious about revealing what is wrong with your wireless network design, you first need to understand the four different site surveys that address WiFi concerns:
Site
Prediction Surveys - With this type of evaluation, the engineer uses simulation
tools to create a model of the radio frequency (RF) environment at your site. A
site forecast survey is usually cost and time efficient, as well as being very
accurate. You will get the best results from this type of assessment if you are
able to provide blueprints or floor plans for your buildings.
Physical
Site Surveys - If you have a more complex wireless network, a physical site
survey can be the best way to go. During this type of assessment, the engineer
will typically focus on applications roaming across access points (APs) as well
as applications that are highly sensitive to latency.
Passive
Site Surveys - The engineer uses software to passively listen to traffic on
your wireless network - looking for problems specifically with access points,
signal strength, and environmental noise.
