Most ISPs offer a number of service plans at different prices. Signing up for a provider’s basic plan can save you a few dollars a month, but it costs a lot more in terms of time and convenience. Even a slight increase in data transfer rate can shave precious minutes off long downloads or allow full Netflix movies to be streamed without annoying errors.
Do the following:
Learn about the high-speed Internet services available in
the area. Ask for recommendations from neighbors, search DSLReports.com, and
see ads from new providers that open up your business. Of the many home
Internet connections, fiber is particularly desirable.
Update your internet service plan to the best available and
change providers if necessary. The best home Internet service is not
necessarily rated the highest Mbps (highest bandwidth). Network latency (also
known as ping) for Internet connections is equal, if not greater, to the
response. Network reliability — services with minimal downtime or sudden
significant performance degradation — is also essential.
Sign up for business class internet service if available. In
return for a higher price, business Internet customers get better technical
support and more design options, such as higher upload speeds. These plans
generally do not prescribe bandwidth control or limitation.
